Workshops

We want to encourage more creative practice in the building at all times and have undergone structural changes to enable this. Workshops now run in the Round Tower, a beautiful listed building, originally used as a wool-drying tower. The ground floor has access for disabled visitors and the building has its own access.

These workshops are administrated by a group of exciting local artists and craftspeople who are keen to bring their expertise and inspirations to all age groups of Frome. The Round Tower is currently available for hire Wednesday - Sunday, daytime and evening. The use of tea making facilities and toilet in the link-way corridor is included with the hire. It can be hired for one-off events and workshops or regular courses.

KIDSART! Spring half-term holiday workshops
Spring into half-term, with some fresh and creative activities for young people, happening in the Round Tower.

Kidsart! workshops are for making cool stuff... and this half-term we'll be doing some very scary gardening, creating bats, butterflies and dragons to turn into fridge magnets, making UFO's with their own aliens, and last but not least, animating our own short films.

The Wedding Ring Making Experience

There is nothing more romantic than making each others wedding rings.

Rachael Ann Bird offers a one day experience, using her expertise to guide you - step by step - through the ring making process. Workshops take place within her fully equipped studio shop, based in Black Swan Arts.

Rings can be made in any precious metal and a design consultation will be provided prior to the day.

During this introduction into the ancient craft of wet feltmaking with Frome-based feltmaker Gladys Paulus, you will learn about the fascinating history and background of feltmaking and find out how and why wool felts.

Felt Hats - 2 Day Workshop
Round Tower - Saturday 26th - Sunday 27th October 2013, 10am- 4pm each day

The cold season is here; come and make yourself a beautiful 100% wool felt hat to keep you warm!

This workshop with Frome-based feltmaker Gladys Paulus is suitable for both beginners as well as those with some experience of feltmaking and will teach you how to make a basic cloche, brim or trilby style hat using the ‘resist’ method.
