Angela Lai Yen

Employing the techniques of free-motion machine embroidery and printing, Angela creates pieces through the manipulation and embellishment of fabric. Inspired by bold colour themes, simple lines and silhouettes and varied textures, her striking work is inspired by personal experiences. Although Angela studied at the not so distant Swansea Metropolitan University, her parents are originally from Hong Kong and she was brought up with her sister in Scotland before moving south to Bath. This sense of movement is reflected in her work as she evokes ideas of home, space and place.
