Lesley Longworth
Pop up Studio

Jo and Andrew Eddleston
Pop up Studio
Monday 15th- Saturday 27th August

Jo and Andrew will be showing their pottery and glass ware and Jo will be using the space to get creative in! You can watch her producing painting on glass as well cutting and assembling glass for fusing in her kiln at home in Timsbury. Jo will be happy to welcome enquiries about any aspects of her work including beautiful and practical domestic thrown pottery or glass pieces. Please do come and see what they do!

The Jester’s Tea Party- Si Griffiths

A riotous explosion of colourful lowbrow pop surrealism, exploring the yin and yang of life.

Simon J Griffiths is a self-taught artist influenced by surrealism, lowbrow, street art, tattoo art, fantasy art and comic books. He has drawn and painted sporadically since a teenager, and started painting in earnest 8 years ago after personal trauma and being inspired to paint again by the Visionary artist S V Mitchell.

His work explores the balance of yin and yang in life, often using satire.

He predominantly works in acrylic.

This is a body of stunning photographic work drawn together from the past three years, from the times Mahtola managed to get off course, to make connections to a place in substance and expression.

Mary Housley

Mary is a Textile Artist who first became interested in needlework, pattern and drawing at Primary School. As part her Teacher Training Course nearly 50 years ago she was fortunate enough to spend the final year of her art course on Creative Embroidery and Design. Later in life she completed a City and Guilds Diploma in this subject. She also joined the Embroiderers' Guild and is now a member of the Frome and District Branch.
Her particular passion is free machine embroidery. She also enjoys felt making and silk paper making. Her inspiration comes mainly from the natural environment.


Paul Minott: Pretty Abstract

An exhibition of large, vibrant monoprints and additional works, especially created for the Black Swan Gallery by graphic artist Paul Minott.

Preview Friday 9th September from 6pm, all welcome.

SAW Creative Pathways Bursary- Sarah Hitchens
Pop-up Studio (SAW Venue 74)
Tuesday 11th September- Saturday 8th October

Sarah Hitchens ( makes subtly figurative sculptures using hand-rolled slabs of clay to create torn, textured, primitive forms with roughly joined edges sometimes slightly bronzed, glazed or with contrasting white slip patterning. During the event, she will display a new body of work as well as demonstrating her creative process. She also invites visitors to get hands-on, involving make, touch and ‘play’.

This year's main Winter Exhibition will be a fitting end to our 30th Anniversary year- a wonderful celebration of 30 past artists and makers who started their careers at the Black Swan and flew the nest! They'll be returning for this stunning mix of ceramic, jewellery, painting, pottery and printmaking as we look back on 30 years of nurturing creativity.
