Animating Images- curated by David Daniels
Main Gallery
Saturday 14th May- Saturday 11th June

An exciting exhibition featuring Oscar and Multi-Award winning short films by a host of artists including Daniel Greaves, Simon Tofield, David Daniels, Emma Burch, Chris Gavin, John Dunleavy, Sam Campbell, Peter Baynton, Xingru Dong and Vida Verga.

The exhibition, curated by David Daniels, features the work of a group of award-winning animators who work using a variety of techniques, from hand-drawn images on paper to digital drawing, 3D computer and stop-frame animation.

The show will include a series finished animations, alongside the development work involved in the production of the films, including original sketches, storyboards, character designs and animatics. The aim is to shed light on how an idea originates, is developed and finally makes it onto the screen.

Stop and Stare
Round Tower
Saturday 7th May- Saturday 28th May

Miriam Sheppard, Ann Warren and Angela Morley

‘Stop and Stare’ is an exhibition focusing on familiar objects and local landscapes, reflecting the artists’ interest in the beauty of subjects that can sometimes be overlooked or too easily dismissed. The viewer is encouraged to look again at familiar subjects. A simple bowl, a foggy morning or wild clematis are all sources of inspiration; and to the artists these are full of colour or texture.

It is good to move at a slower pace and spend time looking, to see the beauty all around us. In the words of William Henry Davies:
“A poor life this if, full of care, we have no time to stop and stare.”

Jackie Curtis
Divas Cafe
Thursday 12 May- Wednesday 22 June

Jackie started to paint and draw seriously in her early teens continuing through university producing posters and artwork for college events and magazines. Her first job took her to Cumbria where she first started to use watercolours joining evening classes and finding inspiration in the magnificent landscape around her.

When she moved to Somerset she became more self sufficient painting on her own with a variety of influences from the Somerset levels; wildlife and nature; marine painting and scenes from her travels. She nearly always carries a sketch book, pens and camera to capture the ideas and inspiration that surround her.

Tony McLaughlin
The Pop up Studio
Tuesday 24th May- Saturday- 4th June

We welcome back Tony McLaughlin to the Pop up after a successful stint here last year! Tony’s work is inspired by landscape and the natural and synthetic elements that shape it with his semi- abstract paintings blending memory and photographs. His coastal paintings are made without brushes, his main tools being palette knives and cloth.
