Black Swan Artisan Shops - Handmade Fayre

Angela Lai Yen and Rachael Ann Bird, resident artists at the Black Swan Artisan Shops will be hosting a two day event in the building they love and work in - the Black Swan Arts, Frome.  The event ‘Black Swan Artisan Shops – Handmade Fayre’ will showcase the work of selected artists and contemporary craft people from Frome and surrounding areas.

The Handmade Fayre is the first of its kind and will held in the Black Swan Artisan Shops where resident artists and makers Angela Lai Yen of Little Studio Red, Rachael Ann Bird Goldsmith, Villa Rosie and Anja of Knopf Design will open their own working studios and demonstrate their creative processes. The top floor of the Round Tower will house a fine art exhibition with artists working in print, paint, textiles, ceramics and paper sculpture and on the lower floor of the Round Tower a range of contemporary craft stalls will entice.

Of some of the artists and craftspeople getting involved –

• Paper Artist Jessica Palmer creates intricate paper portraits and sculptures that truly captivating. She is new to the area and a must-see.
• Ceramicist Julia Davey is a favourite to the area. She decorates tableware using original illustrations combined with decadent lustre
• Ceramicist Jo Lucksted produces figurative sculptures based on classical mythology  alongside fascinating vessels inspired still life paintings.
• Painter and Printmaker Madeleine Town paints atmospheric imagined landscapes with a love for foxes.
• Kerrie McNeil creates screen prints inspired by vibrant colours of flowers and the sea on a sunny day.
• Julie Ball paintings are inspired by day to day occurrences, humorous and touching encounters between a man and his best friend – the humble hound...
