Black Swan Arts - Frome's Community Art Gallery with Cafe, Shop and Studios

Black Swan Arts is a dynamic arts centre at the heart of the renowned creative market town of Frome in Somerset. The building features a vibrant programme of contemporary and innovative art and crafts, providing inspiration for the creative talents of Frome and beyond. The centre is made up of the Main Gallery, the Round Tower, three artists' studios, a pop-up studio, SEED shop, Divas Cafe and the Courtyard.

Opening Times

Black Swan Gallery Mon to Sat: 10am - 4pm

Round Tower Gallery: Mon to Sat: 10am - 4pm (Duel event space, available for hire during & outside these times)

Artisan Shops: Please check on each individual shop page for details

Divas Café & Gallery Mon to Sat: 8.30am - 5.30pm

SEED Shop Mon to Sat: 10am - 5pm                                                               

Black Swan Arts is closed Sundays, except for The Frome Independent Market (1st Sunday of the month)

Conversation with Artist: Midday Sun 7 June (Market Sunday) - ALL WELCOME

Artists make metaphors. Dan Hampson brilliantly uses the metaphor of the explorer. This is the artist as explorer, where curiosity, desire, wonder, humility and ego, intrepidly set forth into the dark interior of an unknown continent called human nature. The scenarios he paints are noble, heroic, pathetic and comic, as the artist struggles through jungles and across vast deserts to explore his universe.

step in stone Sculpture Competition' 2015
We are delighted to announce the winners of the first step in stone sculpture design competition for young people. The work entered showed a remarkable amount of creativity, by all ages and choosing the final winners was a real pleasure.
The winner is Charlotte McKeown with her elegant Kinetic Structure, chosen because integral to the piece is its movement.
The younger prize winner is Lucja Korczak with the ethereal The Shattered Lily.

Charlotte will be making her design into a full-size sculpture to be displayed outside the Somerset Earth Science Centre

Round Tower for Hire
The Round Tower is available to hire at reasonable rates for workshops, exhibitions, meetings and events. Conveniently located near the main car park, this historic former drying mill is split over two levels. Bookings are now being taken for daily, evening and weekend events.

We need you to put your feet up in a peaceful place, and enjoy tea and cake. On us!

We put on some wonderful exhibitions in our main gallery, and like most good venues, we need willing volunteers to welcome visitors and keep an eye on the great artwork.
