Jim Whitty Talk at Black Swan Arts
22 November 2014 at 4pm - Black Swan Arts Gallery

Jim Whitty's show is generating thought-provoking discussions about the point at which the artist finishes and the viewer takes over responsibility for deciding what the painting means. The Artists Talk, titled 'When is the Painting Finished' is at 4pm on Saturday 22 November and will be hosted by Jim Whitty and the curator of the show Mark Karasick. No booking is required, so turn up for what promises to be a fascinating and lively debate.

FLUX / Jim Whitty
Gallery Exhibition: 31 Oct - 29 Nov 2014

For this show, Jim is looking to explore the point at which a painting is finished. Working on two large canvases over an extended period of time he is pushing himself to keep painting beyond the point when he would normally down brushes and call the painting complete. In doing so, Jim is hoping to gain some insight into the way of paint, and the psychology of letting the' bird in the hand' go, in the hope of catching 'two in the bush'.
