Beatrice Haines Solo Show 'RIP A K Horsey'
Gallery Exhibition: Sat 6 September to Sun 5 October
Artist talk: Sun 28 September 2:30pm

"As mortals, we all feel the need to leave our mark on the world"

Our Main Gallery exhibition is a much anticipated solo show by Beatrice Haines. Following her great curatorial success with 'dRAW' (an exhibition of experimental drawings) here at Black Swan Arts, she has be returned with her own work, 'RIP A K Horsey'. Although the title may sound a little 'gothic', the show is moving and life-affirming. The artist’s interest in forensics takes centre stage in her intriguing new work, which explores how everyone feels the need to leave their mark, however small.

SAW Creative Pathways Programme

Tue 22 September - Sat 5 October 2014

As part of the SAW Creative Pathways programme, The Levels and Moors, Joy Merron’s inspiration draws parallels between the traditional and present landscape and architecture of the Somerset Levels and the impact we have made in shaping the landscape. She has recognised and included mundane and everyday materials, capturing and incorporating them to achieve a unique and unexpected response.

Divas gallery / Ray Hill - Inner Landscape Series
Fri 5 September – Mon 6 October 2014

Ray's current body of work is inspired by the natural world. The colours and textures found in the land, sea and sky are worked and manipulated to create an effect that is almost dreamlike, often using heightened colours. Using the imagination and external reality to create a landscape that is familiar and yet not of any particular place. The images are vibrant and explore the relationship between a real and heightened landscape using colour and texture as a narrative tool.

FeverLeaf sells out of VOGUE waistcoats!

Since we told you about Feverleaf's exciting story about appearing in Vogue, they have sold out of all the waistcoats that Vogue featured, and are now taking orders for more! Freya is busy in our Artisan Shop Three, and if you'd like to commission Freya to make one just for you, you can find her contact details on the Artisan Shops section of this website.

In their August edition of ‘Street Chic’, British Vogue featured a hand-made waistcoat by Black Swan Arts’ very own designer-maker Freya Morgan. The glossy magazine photographed a reveller at Wilderness Festival UK, wearing one of FeverLeaf's hooded pixie waistcoats, made from reclaimed fabrics.
